The Burning Bike Fest
Bonfire. Bar. Pizza. Live Music. Sacrifices. Egg Hunt.
What more could you want?
14th to 16th March
Join us for a fun-filled social weekend to celebrate the Spring Equinox, and the start of the biker season, in true Celtic fashion!
We want to open the biker season in style with a light-hearted take on old traditions!
We will gather to honour the turning of the seasons, and the start of the new biking season with live music, fire, pizza, and a burning bike!
It is close to a year since a fire in our workshop almost took out our motorbikes and our lovely lodges. This would have been the end of Moto Junkies. We had worked so hard and built such an amazing community. We got away with no injuries, and only one bike got burned! Our MJ community stepped in to help us rebuild in record time and we are still here, stronger than ever! Now THAT is worth celebrating too!
We will drink to the biker gods for fair weather, safe riding, and no more burning bikes until the Burning Bike Fest of 2026!
The Celts would light a bonfire and gather around these sacred flames, dancing, singing, and offering prayers for prosperity and growth. They would offer a sacrifice to honour the sun, invoke warmth and vitality for the season, and drive away evil spirits.
We will light a bonfire and burn a bike (effigy) to honour the sun and invoke warmth and vitality for our rides in the coming year. We will drive away evil road users and angry ramblers!
We will drink beer and wine for fair weather and safe riding.
The smoke and embers were believed to possess purifying and protective properties, warding off malevolent forces and ushering in a season of renewal. Some would leap over the flames or pass objects through the fire as a means of cleansing and renewal.
We will NOT be jumping through the flames (though some have done so during past events - you know who you are!). We will be passing pizza bases through our outdoor oven instead.
One of the most enduring symbols associated with the Spring Equinox in Celtic traditions is that of the egg. Decorated eggs adorned with intricate patterns and symbols were exchanged as tokens of good fortune and blessings for the coming season. The cracking of eggs in ceremonial rites symbolized the breaking of barriers and the emergence of new beginnings.
We will be hiding some decorated eggs around our 18-acre site and inviting you to hunt for them by following clues throughout the weekend (the winners will be those who find them all by the end of the weekend and will be awarded a prize).
We will also break some eggs into the frying pan over the fire and provide you all with egg (or bacon) butties on Saturday and Sunday morning.
We look forward to making this another fantastic tradition at MotoCamp Wales.
Come along for a social weekend with a great atmosphere.
A little more detail...
We begin the weekend on Friday
Get here early lunchtime and get involved with building the fire and, of course...we’re making a motorbike using natural materials. Weaving, whittling, splitting wood by the fire, and even some hardcore drilling action (because why not?). If all that fails, we will have cable ties at the ready in true biker fashion! A mix of old-school craftsmanship and modern flair to build the ultimate bike for one epic burn. Get involved for a giggle and help create the star of the show before it meets its fiery end! This year sets the bar for following years, so let's try not to make it look like a three-legged donkey, or worse, a Harley!
We will have our bushcraft friend, Tom, of Caru Coed Woodland Adventures here to help us along the way.
If whittling a CRF out of wood isn't your thing, you could go walking, riding, or just hang about on the beautiful grounds. Dip in and out as you please. It's all going to be very relaxed. We will have music (through speakers) and the bar (aka - the log shed) will be open in the evening.
Breakfast butties will be offered on Sat and Sunday morning by the fire (or in the snug if it's wet) between 8.30 and 10 am (included in the ticket price).
Get involved on Saturday
Egg Hunt
Take a clue sheet and find the eggs around our 18-acre site to win a prize.
Walking or Swimming
Take a stroll along the precipice Walk or climb Cadair Idris.
Take a swim in the river just a five-minute walk down the footpath.
Riding
Go out on your own for a road or trail ride or book in for a guided ride to enjoy the best of our amazing location. Our guides know all the best places!
Fancy some 121 or 221 training on your road, trail, or adventure bike? Book some time with one of our instructors. They will be available for morning or afternoon sessions.
Have a go on our electric motorbike around the site.
Fun in the Woods with Tom (Caru Coed Woodland Adventures)
Stranded in the woods with a broken-down motorbike and run out of Haribos? Could you survive? In this 3-hour session (running twice during the day starting at 9.30am and 1.30pm), build a shelter, make a fire, and signal for help with support from our on-site team. Make a fire, and you’ll even earn a hot drink! Prizes await the most ingenious survival designs. Test your skills, get creative, and prove you’ve got what it takes to thrive in the wild!
Bike Burning, Bar, and Beer
On Saturday evening we will have a big bonfire. There will be live music from a local band, a bar, and pizza (pizza is not included in the price).
Tonight is the night we burn the bike we made yesterday! Enjoy the show as all our hard work goes up in flames!
There will be a bar onsite offering ales, larger, and spirits.
Other Things Worth Noting
Free tea and coffee is available all weekend.
This is a dog-friendly weekend so your dogs are welcome but please be aware that chickens and ducks live here as well as other dogs. There are also sheep living next door and lots of smells to chase. Be sure your dog is supervised.
Food is not provided on Friday night but the local pubs and restaurants serve wonderful meals and it's always great to support our local businesses. Alternatively, bring your camping stove. There will also be a large fire with a grill available should you wish to cook on the flames. It's a DIY kinda night but we are on hand to help as required! Logs are provided.
Upon booking, you will be asked if you want to make a £5 donation to the Welsh Air Ambulance - just in case the gods aren't impressed with our bike!
**Want to contribute to the fundraising by bringing something along that we can raffle, or bake a cake that we can share for donations? Get in touch.
