Train for Trails

2-Day Beginners Course

Never been off-road, or want to increase your skills? 

Do you have a dual-sport bike and never taken it off the tarmac? Not sure how it will feel or how to react when it does? Perhaps you're thinking of buying a greenlaner, or you're about to take a trip of a lifetime to the Himalayas and you need to hone your off-road skills. 

Our 2 day Train For Trails course is the perfect introduction to the joys of trail riding or the ideal refresher course for those who may not have been off the tarmac in a while. It has been carefully designed by qualified instructors and ex-police bikers to increase your skills in a safe and fun environment.

If you have never ridden before, or are looking for a bespoke training solution then please check out our 1-2-1 training options where we can cater for everyone from complete novices who have never ridden a motorcycle before through to experienced riders who are looking to hone or improve their skills.

Day 1

We will start on our base in Dolgellau for a day of learning the foundations of trail riding. We progress gently through the day to build confidence and ability. 

We teach you the basics of off-road riding, including

  • bike pick up

  • bike balance

  • body positioning and weight control seated and standing

  • lever control

  • riding on loose and wet surfaces

  • hill recovery

  • brake and clutch control

Day 2 - ​Let's hit the trails!

Put all you learned into practice on the trails and build on them as you take a trail ride through Eryri National Park. 

We will start the day with a gentle warm up on our base at Dolgellau, and will cover a few more techniques to equip you to progress on to our trail ride.

  • tackling obstacles - advanced clutch control

  • uphill starts

  • riding ruts

  • downhill braking and off-camber riding

 

After lunch we will take you out on the trails to put your newfound skills into practice as well as tackling water crossings, and rock climbs using momentum. 


All these skills will aid you in progressing towards trail riding in the uk, preparing you for a big trip abroad, or simply building confidence on your trail bike. Whatever you decide to do next, our main aim is to ensure you have a fun two days with us here at Moto Junkies. 

Join us on your own bike or hire one of ours.

 

If you are using your own bike it must be road legal, trail/dual-sport/enduro and have at least 50/50 tyres - if you are unsure please contact us prior to booking - info@motojunkies.co.uk

Price

  • Own bike - £400 ​

  • With bike hire (Honda CRF or Royal Enfield Himalayan) - £600

  • Accommodation options are available as an extra at checkout;

    • Camping - £15 per person 

    • Pod (off-grid) - £50 per pod

    • Room in a lodge - £50 sharing a twin room (You will share with another student). £75 for a single.

  • Kit - Please bring your own textile gear and ensure it has back, knee, and elbow protection. If you do not have adventure boots and helmet, please let us know your size when booking and we will happily lend you some.
